The Machineries Module

The Maintenance Management System system allows managing of preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance and maintenance scheduling for existing machinery. Adding machines to the system will also create a list of the machines that require maintenance, be it as a measure to prevent breakdown or as a result of a fault.

Setting up Machinery

When setting up machinery, the system requires information, such as the name, code, location and status. Other optional information includes the machinery description, owners and energies relevant to the machinery. Energies can be configured in the Settings menu. Examples of energies include electrical, pneumatic and gas.

Machine Asset List

The Machineries module includes a list of machines that have been added to the system and their details. These details can be edited by clicking on an existing machine name.

These details include:

  1. Name
  2. Description
  3. Code
  4. Location
  5. Status

More information can be accessed by clicking on a machine name, including:

  1. Machinery owners
  2. Energies
  3. Preventative Maintenances
  4. Reactive Maintenances
  5. Maintenance Scheduling

List of Energies

Energies that are part of machinery are selected when setting up machinery. These include parts of machines that are used to power the machine and are active when the machine is switched on. Some examples of energies include mechanical, inertia, electrical and gas. Energies can be configured in the Settings menu.

Preventative Maintenance

Preventative Maintenances are scheduled checks or maintenance work which helps to reduce the likelihood of breakdowns and machinery failures.

Preventative maintenance is documented in a separate module and is shown in the ‘Preventative Maintenances’ module and the ‘Machineries’ module. A list of all preventative maintenance relevant to the machinery that have been added to the system can be accessed by clicking on the machinery.

This also applies to maintenance scheduling, which is documented and is shown in the ‘Maintenance Schedulings’ module and can also be accessed in the ‘Machineries’ module.

Reactive Maintenances and Maintenance Schedulings

Reactive Maintenance is repair work or replacement that takes place after a machine has broken down or failed.

Reactive maintenance can be documented in a separate module and is shown in the ‘Reactive Maintenances’ module and the ‘Machineries’ module. A list of all reactive maintenances relevant to the machinery that have been added to the system can be accessed by clicking on the machinery.

Statuses

The machinery status is selected when setting up machinery. The status can be changed by an administrator.

The statuses that show for machineries are:

  1. Safe to use – the machine is safe to use.
  2. Not safe to use – the machine is not safe to use as it can cause accidents and injuries.
  3. Not in use – the machine is no longer being used.
  4. Expired – the date of the machine is expired.
  5. Removed from service – the machine was removed from service, due to a variety of reasons, such as it being no longer in use, or it is unsafe to use.
