How Do I Create a Template using Template Builder?
The Template Builder module allows users to print a physical copy of a record or form type. It retrieves existing forms from the system and can be customised to the user's preferences. A template may consist of more than one digitised form. Print templates can be created for E-Permit Types, Health and Safety Types, Audit Types, and Safety Observation Types.
To Create a Template:
- On the left column, go to Settings and click Template Builder.
- On the right, click on the module type.
- Select the report type you want to create your template for.
- In the Forms section, select the form(s) you would like to add by clicking on the form or dragging and dropping the form to the template.
Expert Tip:
When adding forms to a template, begin from the bottom of the list and work your way upwards. This approach makes it easier to drag and drop the forms into your preferred positions.
The toolbox section also includes a variety of elements you can add to a form: Number Identifier, Name, Description, Status, Signatures, Locations, Projects, Subcontractors, Map, and Type. By adding these tools, relevant data will be pulled from the system and displayed in the final report once completed.
To Change Preferences When Creating a Template:
- At the top of the page, click Preferences.
- The following options are available:
- No Show Assistance - no lines will show when creating the template.
- Show Center Line - a line will appear going down the centre of the template, which can be helpful if you want to ensure correct alignment when changing the placement and reducing the size of items.
- Split in 4 Sectors - four lines will appear going down the template, which can be helpful if you want to ensure correct alignment when changing the placement and reducing the size of items.
- To change the font size, enter a preferred size into the text box or select using the arrows at the right of the text box.
- Select Hide Sizes or Show Sizes if you want to show/hide the size of the template.
- Select the format:
- A3 - suitable for artworks
- A4 - suitable for documents, is most recommended
- A5 - suitable for flyers
To Change the Sequence of Forms:
- Drag and drop the forms to where you would prefer.
To Remove a Form From a Template:
- Hover your mouse over the toggle icon and click 'Remove'.
To Change the Placement of Content in a Form:
- Click the lock icon at the top right corner of the form.
- Drag and drop the items to where your prefer.
- When you have completed this, click the lock icon again to ensure the content will not be moved.
To Edit an Item in a Form:
- Hover your mouse over the toggle icon at the top right corner of the item and click Edit.
- Here, you can edit the foreground colour and font size, and see a preview at the bottom.
- When you have finished editing, click Close.
To Save a Form:
- At the top of the page, click Save Template.
- A pop-up notification will appear if not all fields of the chosen forms are present. If you are sure you want to save the form, click Save Anyway.
- Enter the Template Name, Version, and Template Description.
- Click Save & Submit.

- Create Safety Observation Types
