Course Showing as “Not Completed” Despite Passing the Induction

If a user has completed an online induction and received a message confirming 100% success, but their record still shows the course as “Not Completed” and they cannot generate a certificate, this is usually due to outstanding course prerequisites.

In some Learning Management Systems (LMS), course completion is not determined solely by passing the final module or assessment. Administrators can configure courses to include mandatory prerequisites, such as reading documents or uploading required files, which must be completed before the course can be fully marked as finished.

When prerequisites are still outstanding, the learner’s status may appear as “Missing Prerequisites.” In this situation, even though the user has successfully completed the main course content, the system will not mark the course as complete or allow the certificate to be generated until all required items are completed.

For example, a course may require the learner to open and acknowledge a safety document before completion is recorded. If the learner has not yet accessed and acknowledged that document, the course will remain incomplete in their training record.

To resolve this issue, the learner should review the course requirements and ensure that all mandatory documents or prerequisite tasks have been completed. Once these steps are finished, the system will automatically update the course status and the completion certificate should become available.
